SYNOPSIS

Learning how to create and follow a budget is key to thriving in the arts when your income varies from job to job. Practical money management skills do not come from a feast or famine mindset. They are acquired skills just like your craft. Learn how to achieve fiscal health and financial freedom with tools for building and maintaining a budget, as well as how you can increase your saving and investing potential.

PANELIST BIOS

Fred Arsenault - Actor, Artist Financial Support Group 
Freddy Arsenault is the founder, and current board president, of the Artists Financial Support Group (AFSG), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping artists understand personal finance, particularly in regards to student loans, budgeting and taxes. Freddy is an actor who has been seen on Broadway, film and television. He is also the proud father to his new daughter, Imogen.

Amanda Clayman – Actors Fund
Amanda Clayman helps people live empowered, engaged, andeducated financial lives. She runs the Financial Wellness Program for nationalarts-based non-profit The Actors Fund, and she is the Financial Wellness Expertfor SheKnows.com, where she writes a weekly Financial Therapy advice column. Her work has been featured extensively in television and print. She lives inBrooklyn with her husband and daughters. For more please visit

David Maurice Sharp  - Dancer, Choreographer, Author
David Maurice Sharp's unique background allows him to relate to his audience both as an artist and as a financial professional. He danced with the Mimi Garrard Dance Theatre from 1993 to 2001, as well as with other companies including Lucinda Childs, Blondell Cummings, Sean Curran, Rachel Lampert, Heidi Latsky, Lonne Moretton, and Anna Sokolow. His choreography has been performed at such venues as Lincoln Center, La Mama, Soho Rep, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and HERE; and his video work, Shadow Dance, received a Silver Award from the Dance on Camera Festival. 

Most recently, as a financial professional, David worked for KCC LLC as a Director of their New York office, specializing in US and international restructurings, particularly those that involve public securities. David was a founding member and initiated the formation of the Thriving Artists Investment Club, a limited partnership established by a small group of artist / friends to educate one another about investing and personal portfolio management. In October David was named a 'money hero' by Money magazine for his work educating artists about their finances.  David's book, The Thriving Artist: Saving and Investing for Performers, Artists, and the Stage & Film Industries, was published this month.

Dominic Comperatore  - Moderator
Dominic Comperatore is the founder of Empire Tax Prep, specializing in taxes for performers. An actor and licensed tax preparer registered in New York and California, he is also the designated preparer for the New York clientele of Chuck Sloan & Associates, one of the leading authorities on taxes for performers. As a working actor in film, television and theater, he brings an intimate knowledge of the issues particular to performers when dealing with the IRS. He maintains a bi-coastal clientele and is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA.
