SYNOPSIS

This online workshop will provide feedback from an experienced casting professional. No more than 20 performers will be participating. 

When a new Casting Access Online workshop is announced, eligible performers RSVP to request a space in the workshop and are added to the workshop on a first-come/first-served basis. Confirmed participants will be notified by e-mail. 

The date listed for the workshop is the day enrollment and cancellation close, and your headshots are sent to the casting director. Later that week, participants will receive sides specially selected for them by the participating casting director. 

Once you have received your sides, you will have until the deadline to rehearse, record, and upload a video containing your performance of the sides. You will upload the video using your YouTube account and email the video link. Finally, the casting director will review your workshop video and provide notes.

CASTING DIRECTOR BIO

Her beginnings in real people casting and her background in Avant Garde Theatre have given Francene Selkirk a competitive edge in discovering interesting characters in the extensive talent pool and a keen eye for improv/comedy skills.

Her work with director Tom Kuntz (DGA-Director of the Year) has earned her world-wide recognition, particularly with the OLD SPICE –the man your man could smell like, campaign. The list of memorable commercials cast by Francene Selkirk Casting (FSC) is extensive: DIRECTV campaign…Don’t have a grandson with a dog collar, et al, WHITE GOLD “Got Milk” campaign, the Clio-winning CareerBuilder.com campaign, FreeCreditScore.com NEW BAND SEARCH, etc. In addition, Francene was honored to have been bestowed the Commercial Casting Director of the Year by the Talent Managers Association in 2011 and in 2012.

Francene has diversified her expertise in comedy to casting pilots for Comedy Central (The Nick Kroll Show), ½ hour TV shows for Fox (including The Spike Fereseten show and Free Ride), Bravo (Significant Others), Oxygen, MTV and others.

... And she played the ukulele with Tiny Tim!

REQUIREMENTS

You must have completed a Casting Access Online application prior to registering for this class.

If you RSVP for this workshop you must be able to upload your video by 9:00am PST on May 16th. DO NOT BE LATE. Those who have been seated by May 8th are expected to comply. You must cancel your reservation before May 8th if you cannot comply. 

This event is only open to actors who reside OUTSIDE of LA or NY.

Your video will not be accepted IF:

-Your video is shot vertically instead of horizontally. If you need to shoot on an iPhone or tablet, turn it sideways.

-It is not appropriately framed. Standard framing is top of the head to mid chest.

-The video has poor sound, clarity, or lighting. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it cannot take away from your performance.

-You have a distracting background. If you cannot provide a solid background, a minimal background is best.

-Your video has title cards or subtitles. They are unnecessary.

-Your video settings are not Unlisted. Videos that are Private or Public will not be accepted.

-You “share” the video through YouTube. You must email the video URL to the specified email address.
