SYNOPSIS

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Los Angeles Short Film Showcase is a cinematic celebration of new projects designed to encourage performers to create their own short films and web series.

Held twice a year, in April and August at our Los Angeles Screening Room, the showcase not only features a shorts program, but includes a Q&A and reception with the films’ directors, producers and actors present at the screening.

FILMS

HUMMINGBIRD & CRANE - Veronica Rodriguez, co-writer, producer, actor
A teen birding fanatic enters the World Series of Youth Birding as the underdog...or is it the underbird?

THE PERFECT SACRIFICE - Tiffany Littlejohn, writer, director, producer
Mississippi, 1955: After her son is kidnapped and brutally murdered, a mother fights to have an open-casket funeral in order to expose the ugly racial problems facing the country at that time.

NIGHT SHIFT - Marshall Tyler, director, writer
A day in the life of a bathroom attendant in a Los Angeles nightclub.

RATED - John Fortson, writer, director, producer, actor
Maggie must find the courage to own up to her behavior when she wakes to find every adult has received a YELP-like star rating floating over their head. While most every adult has a shining 4 and 5 stars, Maggie's got just 2.5.

VIRGIN TERRITORY - Debbie von Ahrens, producer
Virgin Territory is a sex-positive, queer, and questioning coming-of-age story about a teenage girl who commences her journey of sexual exploration through intercourse with an absolutely irrelevant boy.
