SYNOPSIS
With the rise of social media personalities and self-made content creators, the definition of actor has begun to expand in order to include these new types of performers. Featuring some of the most prominent women leading the charge in the social media space, this panel will explore how transmedia storytelling and digital content creation are changing the face of entertainment. Hear how these new avenues of income are creating alternative pathways to success for entertainers and enabling them to use the “self” as a marketing tool.
PANELIST BIOS
Hannah Hart
Hannah Hart is an entertainer and two-time New York Times best-selling author.
Boasting over 5.3 million followers across her social platforms, Hannah is the creator and star of her
award-winning, weekly web series “My Drunk Kitchen”, which has amassed millions of views since its first episode premiered in 2011. In 2012, Hannah launched her first scripted format "Hello, Harto,” a project that helped distribute food to local communities across America. These efforts in turn created Hannah’s philanthropic community ‘Have A Hart Day,’ an international, year-round initiative which encourages young leaders to volunteer their time in their own communities. Hannah was recognized by The White House for her ability to mobilize the youth through this initiative and she was invited to lead a discussion about millennial engagement with President Obama. She was also named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30, an annual list which highlights talented individuals under 30 years old across a variety of fields in 2015.
In August of 2017, Hannah premiered a brand new television show, I Hart Food, on the Food Network and showcased her experiences dining across America. In 2017, Hannah starred in her own TV series, Food Network's "I Hart Food." The series will also air on sister network, Cooking Channel, beginning February 2018.
Hannah’s first book "My Drunk Kitchen: A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut,” was based on her popular web series and spent six weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list. Her highly anticipated sophomore book "Buffering: Unshared Tales Of A Life Fully Loaded" debuted at number four on the New York Times Bestseller List in October 2016.
Last year, Hannah starred in Legendary Digital Media’s film “Electra Woman and Dyna Girl,” a superhero action film with female-centric characters based on the popular 70’s series of the same name. Hannah also co-produced and starred in Lionsgate's comedy "Dirty 30," which released in theaters and on digital platforms.
Born and raised in Northern California, Hannah currently resides in Los Angeles.
Laura Clery
Laura Clery is a SAG-AFTRA actress and one of the most popular Content Creators with millions of fans worldwide on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
While Laura started her career through a more conventional track, starring in numerous national commercials and sitcom’s, it was her own digital content that propelled her career to the next level. Drawing from her comedic and improv skills, Laura developed characters such as Helen and Pamela Pupkin that have taken off and caught the attention of Comedy Central, Facebook Watch, and brands like AT&T. Laura has also recently been highlighted in Variety and Adweek and has more projects in the works that will surely take Hollywood by storm!
Ashly Perez
Ashly Perez is a producer, actor, writer and director. Formerly a development partner at BuzzFeed, Ashly helped create BuzzFeed’s first scripted universe, BuzzFeed Violet. She’s currently working on projects for both digital and traditional, focusing on representation of queer women and women of color.
Moderator - Chelsea Naftelberg
Chelsea Naftelberg is a connector and influencer marketing thought leader serving on the board of WIIM (Women in Influencer Marketing). In her current role as Director of Influencer & Content at ATTENTION, she is responsible for building, harnessing & developing a robust network of creators and influencers, as well as supporting content and creative output across a variety of brands and categories globally. Born and raised in New York City, Chelsea began her career as a Fine Arts major before transitioning to marketing at Red Bull North America. She joined ATTENTION in 2014 as Content & Social Media Manager, and in early 2016, moved to Los Angeles for the second time to help build their west coast presence from the ground up and take the lead on Influencer Marketing at the agency. Her mixed professional backgrounds give her a unique ability to communicate with artists, creators, and clients of all time.
