This two hour class will include a Q&A and a cold reading session with an experienced casting professional. Scenes will be assigned at the start of class.
This class will be a mock casting session for a co-star role on television.
CASTING DIRECTOR BIO
Erica Arvold is the founder of arvold., a casting, production, and education company based in Charlottesville, VA and Atlanta, GA. She most recently developed story for the feature script Shoeless Wonders. Erica & team cast the indie feature Teacher’s Pet, Permanent, served as location casting for Jeff Nichols’ feature film Loving, the AMC series Turn: Washington’s Spies and three seasons of Netflix’s House of Cards. She produced and cast the indie film Josephine, served as associate producer and casting director on Coming Through the Rye, Wish You Well, Texas Rein, helped cast feature films Ithaca and Badge of Faith, National Geographic’s Killing Kennedy as well as helmed the casting for Ridley & Tony Scott’s Killing Lincoln and Hallmark Movie Channel’s Lake Effects. Erica began her dual role as producer and casting director with the psychological thriller House Hunting. She has been nominated for CSA’s prestigious Artios Award four times - for the films Loving and Elemental in 2017, Big Stone Gap in 2016 and Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln in 2013. Over the past 28 years, Erica has contributed to and participated in the making of over 130 films, 80 television projects and numerous short form and commercial projects. In 2012, she was inducted into the First Lady of Virginia’s Opportunity Hall of Fame for her contribution to the economic growth in the state. She is a member of the Casting Society of America, Producers Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. She travels across the country to speak, co-teach and lead master classes for creative artists as well as business professionals, utilizing her training from The Theatre School, DePaul University (formerly The Goodman School of Drama). Erica is grateful to the many writers, filmmakers, actors and professionals who have entrusted her & her company to collaborate over the years.
