BIO

Julie found her career and love for casting completely by accident 14 years ago, when her ex-boyfriend (who was a film student at Chapman University) needed a Casting Director for a project. Despite her enthusiasm for acting and double degree in Theatre, Julie has always been drawn to the other side of the camera. She once had a director in college tell her to please consider a career in directing. A comment she immediately found insulting... but he was right :) Back to her ex’s project- she taught herself on the go and it was in that first casting session that she knew this was supposed to be her career. She quit acting completely and dived head first into a career in casting. Having worked on popular TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, The Middle and The Descendants franchise for Disney Channel, she found a love for comedy casting. Her favorite (and the one she is most proud of) project to date was a fully improvised office comedy for a major streaming network that she co-cast. This project was sadly cancelled because the network was unsure how it could be pulled off. 5 years later, Freevee DID pull off a similar concept with the widely successful show ‘Jury Duty’. So she’s happy to witness a concept like it now celebrating its success. Still a theatre nerd at heart, she also casts for theatre in LA. Most recently - The Diary of Anne Frank celebrated its fifth extension since 2018 and had a limited run at The Colony Theatre in Burbank. She is currently casting two indie features and wrapped an improv pilot in the summer.
