SYNOPSIS
REAPER is an extremely powerful DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) for multi-track music recording and production. Because REAPER is so versatile, however, it is also possible to strip it down and configure it specifically for voiceover and audiobook production.
Join REAPER devotee James Romick for the first of a two part exploration of this powerful tool.
In this first session James will briefly demonstrate how to download and install REAPER and the SWS Extensions. Then he will get into the nitty gritty of the options for configuring REAPER to be more voice actor and narrator friendly – from changing many of the default preferences to creating a more useful toolbar to assigning keyboard shortcuts to rearranging parts of the REAPER’s GUI (Graphic User Interface) to adding more colors and eliminating screen clutter. As James is so fond of saying, this class will ensure you (in the words of Blue Oyster Cult): “Don’t Fear the REAPER.”

Members already familiar with self-recording on other DAWs will benefit the most from this class. Class not recommended for absolute beginners. Members must stay for the duration of this session.
INSTRUCTOR BIO
James Romick
James Romick has been a member of SAG-AFTRA since 1980. Between acting gigs in the mid 1980s, James also studied audio engineering at The Institute of Audio Research in NYC when editing analog magnetic tape with a splicing block and razor blade was the norm. Although he has a working knowledge of many different DAWs, James prefers to record VO and his audiobooks with REAPER. Take this session and learn why.
