SYNOPSIS

Now the serious work begins!  In this follow-up to REAPER 101: Configuration and VO Narration with James Romick,  James will discuss setting optimal input levels for basic recording, punch & roll recording, and an efficient method of making corrections (pickups) within already recorded material. He will also demonstrate REAPER’s non-destructive editing capabilities, show REAPER’s spectral view options and touch on placing labeled markers, creating labeled regions, and ripple editing. James will set up what he calls “The Basic Four” processing FX on a track, introduce various rendering (exporting) options and show how to create several useful custom actions (macros) to boot. All of this will culminate in the creation of handy repeatable Project Templates for more efficient and simplified home recording workflow.

REQUIREMENTS

This session is a follow-up class to REAPER 101: Configuration and VO Narration with James Romick. Members do not have to have attended that class but must have a working knowledge of REAPER. This class is designed for members who are familiar with basic functions of REAPER but wish to customize the DAW and use it more effectively. This is an intermediated to advanced level class that is not suitable for beginners.

INSTRUCTOR BIO

James Romick

James Romick has been a member of SAG-AFTRA since 1980.  Between acting gigs in the mid 1980s, James also studied audio engineering at The Institute of Audio Research in NYC when editing analog magnetic tape with a splicing block and razor blade was the norm. Although he has a working knowledge of many different DAWs, James prefers to record VO and his audiobooks with REAPER. Take this session and learn why.
