CLASS FORMAT

This class will include a Q&A with LA based talent agent Tim Payne, followed by a prepared work session. 

Participating actors will choose, prepare and perform sides from film or television.  

Additional preparation details will be sent upon RSVP confirmation.

BIO

Tim Payne has been working in the entertainment industry over 30 years. After graduating from Baylor University with a degree in communications, Tim made his way to Los Angeles.  He began his career as an actor, transitioned into a talent agent and for the last twenty-five years has thrived working in television casting.  In a full circle of life event, as of April 2025, Tim went back to his agenting roots. He is overseeing the Los Angeles office of the Chicago based talent agency, The Gray Talent Group. 

Some of the shows he has worked on as a casting director, include The Hunting Party currently airing on NBC/Peacock, The Unicorn, Splitting Up Together, God Friended Me, Crazy Ex Girlfriend (Artios Winner for best Comedy Casting), Young and Hungry, Suburgatory and the multi-Emmy winning drama !Huff, to name a few. One of the perks of his career is getting to work with actors and more than anything loves being a part of the creative atmosphere casting provides. The last six years Tim has been really enjoying the opportunity to teach college students at several universities, (currently ongoing at UC Santa Barbara) preparing them for what to expect in the “real world”, and to offer a sneak peek into the business opportunities of an acting career.
